The Apple Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) is a great way to find out about the latest software and technology available for developers to make the most of Apple devices when making their apps and other programs. It’s always held in California, making it one of the most glamorous and fascinating tech events of the year and attracting more than 5,000 attendees every time.

While most of us are avid users of a wide range of different mobile apps, not so many of us feel confident enough to have a go at making our own programs. However, this feeling is changing rapidly as more than 13 million developers are hard at work all around the globe.

It looks like developers are getting younger and younger every year, and the freshest of the lot so far is 9-year-old Anvitha Vijay. When you think about the precocious talents of such children and the fact that almost three quarters of attendees have never been to a WWDC event before, it’s easy to see why the App Store is growing as fast as it is.

Speaking of the growth of apps, Apple started with a mere 500 options when the App Store was first opened. This felt like a huge amount at the time, but you’ll be shocked to discover that the current number of apps available worldwide stands upwards of the 2 million mark.

You can always expect to hear plenty about the latest iteration of Apple’s operating system, but 2017 brings some really big changes for iPad users. This year’s event was filled with so many new facts and features that some of the coolest iOS functions weren’t even mentioned at all. That’s how full of ideas Tim Cook’s speech was.
